Fellow Blogger Enjoying a “Home” Reunion

We got no new revelation, just reinforcement of the old truths and of each other’. So often that is what the Church is all about. There are many gatherings where there is an evident panic and lust for things “fresh and new”. The implication is one of boredom and dissatisfaction with the Grand Old Story. They will have to wander in their restlessness (and probable error) until “the Rod and Staff” bring them Home. Home has so many facets of beauty not yet appreciated in the light of today’s set of circumstances. Glad to hear that you “solidified” with loved ones out of your past, XXXX.

“Remembrance” is a powerful word in Gospel exercise (2 Peter 1).

  1. I realize that this isn’t the point of the post, but “evident panic and lust for things “fresh and new”. The implication is one of boredom and dissatisfaction with the Grand Old Story” seems rather harsh and unfair.

There is no panic or lust in my desire to hear afresh from God. Just a longing to know more of Him; a longing to know the “facets of [His] beauty not yet appreciated”. That’s how love relationships go. I will never be satisfied to just rehash what I already know about God. He is just as alive in the present and future as He was in the past. It strikes me as arrogant and unfair to God to believe that He has nothing more to say.

Retelling the Grand Old Story is wonderful, but when I hear men retelling the glory days of their high school athletics over and over again at every get-together, I feel kind of sad for the rest of their lives.
