Night of Pioneer Noel

Get the candles; where are the candles?

Night is coming on.

Sheets and bedclothes all arranged

Before the light is gone.

Christmas blanket shrouds the earth

Sparkles linger yet

Neighbours’ laughs heard through the mist

Night they’ll not forget.

Trees with ice a-jangling

Wind has loosed its voice

Childhood romps of memory

Make us all rejoice.

Nothing robs the festive mood

Most feel much alive

Drawing close in family warmth

Hydro out since five.
