As I write this the people of Scotland decide their own destiny in an independence referendum. As much as I like Sean Connery, Robert the Bruce and R. L. Stevenson, I must admit that I am hoping for a “No” vote. The alternative is an exercise in unforgiveness, without even half of the economic ramifications examined.
I have visions of William Wallace on the scaffold, and of the Highland Clearances, and of the blood shed by noble Scottish Covenanters resisting the King’s will. But cooperation must win the day, and for a lot of spiritual reasons.
