Last Straw

bowing
Going down again
My hopes as well
Head beneath the waves
Bleak private hell
Crippled and begging
Others don’t care
Is there a rescuer
Please anywhere?
When the pool ripples
They say we should haste
First in… a miracle
Healing’s glad Grace.
Angels delivering
No not for me
Lifelong embarrassment
Sad mockery.
But hand at my shoulder
And then a kind face
Perhaps he’s familiar
Such crowds in this place
Then gentle the hand’s touch
And soothing the word
This curse lifted easily
Oh surely God heard!
The rabbis so heartless
Their sabbath defiled
And some call Him Jesus
Could this be God’s child?
